AdventHealth Orlando
AdventHealth Orlando, formerly known as Florida Hospital Orlando, is a large, non-profit and faith-based medical center located in Orlando, Florida. It is the largest hospital in the AdventHealth system, with over 1,432 beds, and is the second largest hospital in Florida and the 10th largest in the United States.
The hospital has a strong focus on research and academics, and is the oldest Seventh-day Adventist Hospital in the state of Florida. The hospital’s history can be traced back to the early 1900s, when the Florida Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, along with Lydia and Rufus Parmele, opened the Florida Sanitarium, which focused on treatments such as sunshine, rest, and the water cure.
In January 2019, the hospital changed its name to AdventHealth Orlando, and in October 2020, it installed a 1,800 solar panel carport on top of its McRae parking garage, which can charge over thirty-two electric cars and create 1.3 million kilowatts yearly, saving over $4.6 million in energy costs.
