Fox Chase Cancer Center
Fox Chase Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center located in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is part of the Temple University Health System (TUHS) and specializes in the treatment and prevention of cancer.
The center was formed in 1974 by the merger of the American Oncologic Hospital and the Institute for Cancer Research. It has almost 2,400 employees and an operating budget of $300 million. Research is conducted by a staff of more than 325 physicians and scientists.
The center has a 100-bed hospital and annual hospital admissions average about 4,100 and outpatient visits to physicians exceed 69,000 a year. It is a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and an affiliate of Temple University Health System. Fox Chase has received the American Nurses Association Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence five times and the Press Ganey’s Guardian of Excellence Award for excellence in clinical care in outpatient services.
