About Bela Kis

Dr. Bela Kis is a highly trained and accomplished medical professional with extensive experience in diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology. He holds the position of Associate Member in the Diagnostic Imaging & Interventional Radiology Program at Moffitt Cancer Center, and is an Associate Professor of Oncologic Sciences at the University of South Florida. He has also been recognized as a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (FSIR).

Dr. Kis obtained his MD and PhD from the University of Szeged in Hungary and then completed a Radiology Residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School where he served as Chief Resident. He also completed an Interventional Radiology Fellowship at the same institution.

His clinical interests include image-guided tumor therapy, such as transcatheter chemo- and radio-embolizations, minimally invasive percutaneous tumor ablation, image-guided biopsies, and image-guided treatment of uterine fibroid embolization, pelvic congestion syndrome, vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, and thyroid radiofrequency ablation (RFA).

His research encompasses new techniques in minimally invasive, image-guided tumor therapy, such as chemoperfusion treatment of mesothelioma, irreversible electroporation (Nanoknife) treatment of unresectable pancreatic cancer, radioembolization treatment for primary and metastatic liver tumors, and partial splenic embolization to increase platelet count in patients with thrombocytopenia.
