About Craig W. Stevens

Dr. Craig Stevens is a highly qualified radiation oncologist who received his undergraduate degree in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his medical degree and Ph.D. in tumor cell biology from Northwestern University. He went on to complete an internship, residency, and fellowship in radiation oncology at Georgetown University, after which he was appointed assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

While at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Stevens developed a test to predict radiation response in tumor and normal cells. In 1997, he joined the faculty at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where his basic research expanded to include DNA repair and radiation-induced recombination. He also developed a physics research program, focusing on accounting for breathing-induced tumor motion and the use of PET-CT in lung cancer planning.

In 2005, Dr. Stevens became the chair of radiation oncology at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, where he developed programs in radiopharmaceuticals, the largest TheraSphere program in North America, robust brachytherapy, a residency training program, clinical trials, and more. Since 2013, he has been the system chair of radiation oncology for Beaumont Health and is the Department Chair and Professor of Radiation Oncology at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.

Dr. Stevens is an internationally recognized expert in lung cancer, mesothelioma, and other chest malignancies, as well as radiation physics and radiobiology. He is affiliated with several Beaumont hospitals, including Dearborn, Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak, Taylor, Trenton, Troy, and Wayne. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology in radiation oncology.
