About Daniel H. Sterman
Dr. Daniel H. Sterman is a specialist in interventional pulmonology, a field that combines pulmonary medicine and thoracic surgery to diagnose and treat patients with chest cancers.
He is the Thomas and Suzanne Murphy Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, a professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and the Division Director of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine at NYU Langone Health. He also serves as the Director of the Pulmonary Oncology Program. He is board certified in Pulmonary Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Sterman evaluates and treats patients with lung cancer, malignant pleura mesothelioma, pleural effusion, and benign disorders affecting the large airways of the lungs at NYU Langone Pulmonary and Critical Care Associates and Perlmutter Cancer Center. He uses a patient-centered approach to care and works closely with other specialists to create a specific diagnostic, staging, or treatment plan for each patient. Dr. Sterman's research focus is on gene therapy and immunotherapy to control tumors of the chest and improve patient's quality of life.
Dr. Sterman completed his MD at Cornell University in 1989, followed by a Residency at the University of Pennsylania Cardiovascular Research Group, Medicine in 1992. He then completed Fellowship at the University of Pennsylania Cardiovascular Research Group, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in 1996.
