Dr. Henning Gaissert is a highly skilled thoracic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of lung cancer, esophageal cancer, tracheal disease and surgical reconstruction of complex swallowing disorders. He was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, and went on to complete his internship and residency in Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He also completed a fellowship in Thoracic Surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Before returning to Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Gaissert led the Section of Thoracic Surgery at Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital for 5 years. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians.
