About Keisuke Shirai

Keisuke Shirai, MD, MSc, is a Professor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine, Dartmouth. He joined the team in 2015 and focuses on melanoma, lung cancer, and palliative care. He is fluent in both English and Japanese. Dr. Shirai has been named a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly and published by New Hampshire Magazine for four consecutive years, from 2019 to 2022.

He received his MD from Kyoto University in Japan in 1997, and his MSc in Clinical Research from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2009. He completed his internship at the United States Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan and a residency in Internal Medicine at Aso Iizuka Hospital in Japan.

He received radiation oncology training at Hokkaido Cancer Center, National Sapporo Hospital in Japan and an additional residency in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in internal medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
