About Megan A. Baumgart

Dr. Megan A. Baumgart, M.D., pursued a career in oncology with the profound goal of supporting patients through one of their most challenging life experiences—battling cancer.

Oncology demands a collaborative team approach that includes the patient, medical oncologist, nurses, support staff, and other specialized medical teams such as radiation oncology and surgery. Dr. Baumgart plays a pivotal role in educating patients about their overall treatment plan, emphasizing the role of chemotherapy in combating their illness, and providing continuous support throughout their treatment journey.

Optimistic about the future of cancer treatment, Dr. Baumgart is dedicated to advancing the field through the development of new treatment strategies, particularly for lung, head, and neck cancers. Under her leadership, the clinical trials program has launched several trials, notably those evaluating the efficacy of immunotherapy in treating metastatic head and neck cancers. These trials are currently open for enrollment and aim to address critical questions in the management of these diseases.

Dr. Baumgart holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, specializing in Hematology/Oncology (SMD), and treats conditions such as small cell lung cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, head and neck cancers, and thyroid cancer.
