About Neil Christie
Dr. Neil A. Christie is an Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Chief of Thoracic Surgery at UPMC Shadyside in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Christie received his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 1987 and his Bachelor of Science from Queen's University in Kingston in 1983. He completed a General Comprehensive Internship at Toronto Western Hospital in 1987-1988, General Surgery Residency at the University of Toronto in 1988-1995 and a Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1995-1998. He also completed a Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in 1998-1999.
Dr. Christie is a member of several professional organizations including the Canadian Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association and Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. His research interests include antireflux surgery, fluorescent bronchoscopy, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, thoracic oncology and thoracic stereotactic radiosurgery.
