About Rachel E. Sanborn

Dr. Rachel Sanborn is the Medical Director of the Thoracic Oncology Program and Phase I Clinical Trials Program at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute of Providence Cancer Institute. She specializes in treating patients with thoracic and lung cancers.

With a medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University, Dr. Sanborn completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago before returning to Portland for her fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Oregon Health & Science University. She is board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine.

Dr. Sanborn is a member of the Institutional Review Board for Providence Health and Services and is involved in multiple professional groups such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, Free to Breathe, the Southwest Oncology Group Thoracic Working Group, and the Hoosier Cancer Research Network Thoracic Clinical Trial Working Group.
