About Robert C. Miller
Dr. Robert Miller is a professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and Medical Director of the Maryland Proton Treatment Center. He has conducted extensive research on the use of compounds to mitigate the risk of normal tissue injury in patients undergoing radiation therapy and has served as the national principal investigator/study chairman for five NIH funded national Phase III cooperative group clinical trials.
He retired from the Mayo Clinic in 2019 after 25 years of service where he served as Vice Chair of Mayo Clinic Cancer Center National Practice Committee, overseeing cancer care delivery at all of Mayo’s national sites.
At the University of Maryland, he focuses on proton therapy clinical trial development and offers the next generation in proton therapy, called pencil-beam scanning or intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT), in all five treatment rooms.
