About Shirish Gadgeel
Dr. Shirish M Gadgeel is a highly qualified medical oncologist who is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Medical Oncology. He received his MBBS medical degree from the University of Bombay in Mumbai, India, and completed his internal medicine residency in Mumbai. He also completed an internship at LaGuardia Hospital (now Long Island Jewish Forest Hills) and his Hematology/Oncology residency and Bone Marrow Transplantation Fellowship at Wayne State University.
After his fellowship, Dr. Gadgeel served as director of the Thoracic Oncology Program and co-leader of the Molecular Therapeutics Program at Karmanos Cancer Institute.
Before joining the Henry Ford Cancer Institute, he was a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and the Mary Lou Kennedy Research Professor in Thoracic Oncology at the University of Michigan/Michigan Medicine. Dr. Gadgeel is currently the Division Head for Hematology/Oncology and the Associate Director for Patient Experience and Clinical Care at Henry Ford Cancer Institute.
He is also a principle investigator on numerous clinical trials and has published extensively in peer-reviewed literature. He is a member of several professional societies, including the Lung Cancer Committee of Southwest Oncology Group, the Communications committee of the International Association of Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), and the education committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
