About Sophie Dessureault
Dr. Sophie Dessureault is an expert in surgical oncology and a professor at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. She graduated with distinction from Dalhousie University School of Medicine in Halifax, Nova Scotia and completed her surgical residency and PhD in the Surgical Scientist Program at the University of Toronto.
In 1999, she joined Moffitt Cancer Center for a fellowship in surgical oncology and has received numerous scholarships and awards, including the Society of Surgical Oncology Young Investigator Award and the American Society of Clinical Oncology Development Award. She is a widely published author, fluent in English and French, and a member of several professional organizations.
She has been recognized for her excellence in patient care and teaching, including being elected to the Barness-Behnke Chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society at the University of South Florida in 2008, and being nominated multiple times for the Moffitt Cancer Center Physician of the Year award.
