About Todd Demmy
Dr. Todd Demmy is a highly skilled and experienced thoracic surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of lung cancer. He arrived in Buffalo in 2002 and has since helped make the lung cancer program at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center the busiest in upstate New York State.
He is well-known for his expertise in Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS), which reduces pain and other stress-related responses and leads to faster recovery and expanded surgical options for patients.
Dr. Demmy's primary research focus is on the use of regional lung chemotherapeutics, and he is the author or co-author of numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and regularly presents at national and international professional meetings. He has been recognized as a 'Top Doctor' in U.S. News and World Report and one of 'America's Top Doctors' in New York State.
Dr. Demmy received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed a general surgery internship at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by a residency and research fellowship in cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Allegheny General Hospital-West Campus, Medical College of Pennsylvania.
He is a Professor of Oncology at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, and a Professor of Surgery at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. He is also a board-certified surgeon, surgical critical care specialist, and thoracic surgeon, and a member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery Board of Directors.
