About Traves D. Crabtree
Dr. Traves Crabtree is a highly accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon who holds the position of Professor and Chair of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Surgical Skills Laboratory at the Memorial Learning Center.
Dr. Crabtree received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1991, and then went on to earn his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 1995. He completed his General Surgery residency and a fellowship in Surgical Infectious Disease Research at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
He then went on to complete a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, before returning to SIU School of Medicine in 2016. Dr. Crabtree is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgeons (ABTS) and is a member in good standing of numerous thoracic and cardiothoracic surgical societies and organizations. He also serves on the editorial board of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery.
